What is meant by Ashtavarga?What are their uses?

Asta means eight

Astavarga is an intricate method to determine the auspiciousness of the transits. It helps to understand for each graha which portion of 360` zodiac will be favourable and unfavourable  for a particular person.

The basic principle of Ashtavarga is each graha in the natal chart acts like a lagna and 12 houses can be counted from that graha

Transiting grahas pass through these 12 houses as counted from each of the natal graha.

The count is not there for Rahu & Ketu but is there for Ascendant.

Thus there are 8 /Asta position which are counted.

A favourable place marked by `Bindhu and unfavourable place marked by `Rekha

Every sign the transiting graha pass through is ruled from 0-8 Bindus

A sign with 8 Bindus is favourable for all natal position.

A sign with 0 Bindu is unfavourable

Individual bindus for each sign for each natal graha is called Bhnnastakavarga.

There are 7 Binnashtakavargas . When all Bhinnastakavarga are added up it is called Sarvashtakavarga

Maximum score a Astavarga can get ona sign is 56

The Purpose of Ashtavarga is to identify favourable and unfavourable transits. It can also be used to evaluate the auspiciousness /strength of the houses..

The Bidus in 6 8 12 should be less

1.Rajayoga is formed when Mars and Venus are in exalted sign and Jupiter in Trikon house and there are 40 or more Bindus in Ascendant

2. When Ascendant , moon and Sun have at least 30 bindus then the person will have success through hard work and dedication

3. When Sun & Jupiter are situated in their exalted sign with 30 bBindus and the count of Bindus in the ascendant is more than other houses in hte horoscope the person will lead a life of health and prosperity

4. When there are 30 Bindus each in 4th and 11th house than the native attain wealth after 40 yrs of age

5. When the ascendant , moon sign, 10th sign & 11th house all have 30 Bindus and the ascendant and moon are aspected by Jupiter than the native is blessed with luxury equivalent to that of a king.

6. When auspicious planet is situated in Kendra or Trikona and count of Bindus is good the person will live well.

7.when 28 or more Bindus in moon sign of the horoscope of both partners than the 2 people will have good family life.
